CALL OUT FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP BABYLOSS CHARITY

Plymouth and South Devon SANDS support groups are putting out a call looking for volunteers to join their team with roles varying from treasurer to PR to committee members to supporting meetings.

The current committee and befrienders are all bereaved parents themselves, but these roles could be filled by anyone who has been touched by the death of a baby. The local group, which has been running for over 20 years, has helped hundreds of local families and would like to continue to do so in the years to come.

Currently in the UK, 13 families a day suffer the heartbreak of losing their baby before, during or shortly after birth. Our friendly and supportive group, who meet bi-monthly online or in person in Totnes and Plymouth are part of the charity Sands (The Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society). Sands is the UK’s leading pregnancy and baby loss charity in the UK. Sands are there for anyone affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby, whenever this happened and for as long as they need support and also there to support and promote research to better understand the causes of baby deaths and help save babies’ lives.

Sands provides bereavement support services both nationally through its Freephone helpline, mobile app, online community and resources, and locally through a UK-wide network of around 100 regional support groups.

If you would be interested in taking on a supporting role in our group or you would simply like to attend one of our support group sessions,
