New Indie Film features Sharpham Estate

The film – tagged ‘a personal revolution by a woman ahead of her time’ – has been written, produced, directed and acted in by Caroline Corrie – who also lives in The South Hams.

The story’s main protagonist, Helen, leaves her oppressive husband and finds refuge on the ‘Shalborne’ estate where Lord Shalborne gives Helen and her sick father safe ‘lodgings’ in the Bathing House.

Said Caroline: “It looks very beautiful and quintessentially English. We never went inside to film so we used another location to represent the interiors, so the actual Bathing House appears at points in the film as an establishing shot”.

The film is doing the festival circuit and has already been awarded the Best Foreign Feature Film prize at Toronto’s Female Eye Film Festival.
