This Remembrance Day, an event for peace is being held to highlight the plight of Palestinians as the siege of Gaza continues. ‘Voices from Palestine, Voices for Peace’ will begin with a silent reflection led by Father Jim rooted in a shared, deep wish of peace for all.
The evening will feature a live link up with Palestine with a medical student studying in Hebron in the West Bank, as well as a discussion between Palestinian and Israeli contributors from Combatants for Peace, an organisation which aims to build the social infrastructure necessary for ending the conflict and the occupation: communities of Palestinians and Israelis working together through non-violent means to promote peace .
There will also be short films from The Hands Up Project, which uses online interaction, drama and storytelling activities to promote mutual understanding, personal growth, and the development of English language skills with children and young people in Gaza.
The evening will close with a song from the Sufi tradition, performed live.
