‘Pints for Votes’ rocks Dartington village.

With election pundits arguing that young voters could play a pivotal role in this election, a Dartingon-based brewery is doing its bit to support and mobilise young voters on election day. New Lion Brewery, which recently became one of the UK’s only 100% community-owned breweries, is offering a free pint on polling day to every young voter who presents their polling card at the brewery’s new Taproom and Bottle Shop either before or after they visit the polling station to place their vote.

New Lion Brewery opened in 2013, and recently moved from its previous home on Station Road, Totnes, to its new home at Webbers Yard. Next year it will join forces with the Almond Thief Bakery and Dartington Mill, creating a single venue that celebrates fermentation, gluten, and community. Its recent share launch raised almost £180,000 from 270 investors.

Anyone under the age of 25 who turns up at the Taproom and Bottle Shop at Webbers Yard between 5pm and 9pm on Election day, with their polling card, will be presented with a free pint, and the thanks of the brewery (however they voted!) for getting out and voting. The brewery will also be offering a 10% discount on of their beers to all voters irrespective of age on polling day.
