Totnes Rejects Tesla for the Energy Wise and Eco Homes Show
In a bold move reflecting its commitment to integrity and ethical values, the organisers of the “Energy Wise and Eco Homes Show” have decided to reject Tesla Motors‘ participation in the upcoming event, scheduled for Sunday, May 11th, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Totnes Civic Hall and market square.
Despite initial enthusiasm from Tesla Motors to feature as the main electric car company, the decision was made to withdraw their invitation due to CEO Elon Musk’s recent behaviour. The show organisers, along with Transition Town Totnes, are dedicated to fostering a responsible and equitable response to climate change, prioritizing community improvement and a better future for all.
“While Tesla Motors has played a significant role in advancing electric vehicle technology, Mr. Musk’s recent positions and conduct are incompatible with the values we uphold,” stated Jem Friar, the event organiser. “Our commitment to integrity and ethical conduct guides our decisions, making any association with their brand presently untenable for this event.”

Visitors to the “Energy Wise and Eco Homes Show” will still have the opportunity to explore electric transport solutions with various other exhibitors. The event will include many stalls and inspiring talks in the civic hall, focussed on a range of ways that people can reduce their electricity bills and adopt a more eco lifestyle at home as well as to explore the potential for building their own eco homes. In front of the hall there will be several exhibits of electric cars, car charging systems, and e-bikes in the market square.
The show is generously sponsored by Glo-Renewables, Energy Local Totnes, Terra Perma Geo, and the Woodlab Studio. It invites the community to explore sustainable living practices and connect with experts and enthusiasts dedicated to a greener future.
