Totnes-based Artist Collective presents: “Dreams and Nightmares” Group Art Show

Bedroom Artists…and a Halloween Party
Dreams and Nightmares come true this Halloween in Totnes with the Bedroom Artists Group Art Show.

During the last two weeks of October, the Bedroom Artists Collective are holding their exciting annual art exhibition, showing the work of twenty-eight artists from the South Devon area. The Collective welcomes artists at every stage in their arty cycle, from those who create artwork in their bedrooms (hence the name), to first time exhibitors, to more established local artists.

Exploring the theme of ‘Dreams and Nightmares’, the exhibition will take on multidisciplinary elements; with sculpture, sound art, illustration, painting, photography, installation and more. The exhibition will take place in the beautiful old Assembly Hall, which is part of The Mansion in Totnes and across the corridor from Totnes Library. “We nurture and amplify home-grown talent and ideas. Our aims are simple: to support and connect artists, to connect the public to their work, to give free access and encourage creativity in everyone we meet. Our exhibitions are affordable for those taking part and free for the public to visit. We also run free workshops for the public during our shows,” says Julie Pallot, Co-Founder.

On Friday 24th October, you’re invited to join the artists at the Private View with drinks and live music from local maestro Ben Cello and Stephanie Lisa Kelly. A week later on Friday 31st, there’ll be a themed Halloween celebration/closing party, with spooky DJs and Halloween art activities. There’ll be free workshops run by members of the Bedroom Artists during the daytimes, which will follow the dreams and nightmares theme, including making dream catchers, a ‘nightmarish’ collaging session, a group installation build, exploring ‘drawn imagery of human emotion’ and an experimental art session run by local artist Gary Winters.

Bedroom ArtistsThe Collective are also hosting live music during the days, including a morning session on Saturday 25th from Gisson Hussman – an ongoing collaboration who “weave together an eclectic mix of field recordings, instruments, electronics, samples and natural sounds to create immersive soundscapes.” Please see bedroomartists.org or email bedroomartists@gmail.com for timings of workshops and live happenings closer to the event.
