The Annual Arts Trail is Back!

Open Studios provides a platform for local artists to share their work with visitors, giving access to studios and workshops not normally seen by the public.

Totnes and Dartington Open Studios (TDOS) runs every year at the end of May. This year the studios will be opening from Friday May 24th – Monday 27th with 27 artists taking part, plus 2 who will be available by appointment only.

From the beginning of May you will be able to see examples of their work on their website.

To whet your appetites, there is a joint exhibition in Birdwood House Gallery, Totnes from May 5th – 11th. Up to 38 members will be showing a piece of their art and they’d love to welcome you!

The Totnes  and Dartington Open Studios Group first formed in 2000 as part of the Totnes & District Millennium Festival. In that year there were nineteen artists and craft workers. The number has remained fairly constant since that time with an Open Studios event taking place each year.

Within the Open Studios framework participating artists have come and gone with the turnover retaining the public’s interest. Just two original members remain, although no-one has shown every year. This years’ offering include Angel Fahey, Judy Cockram, Paula Francesca Cloonan, Yvonne Comber, Bev Knowlden, Steve Nayar and many others.

At each show there has been an interesting mix of media; painters, ceramicists, sculptors, print-makers, photographers, jewellers and weavers.

In 2006 it was decided to include artists from Dartington, so the group was renamed; Totnes & Dartington Open Studios.
