THE RESPECT STORIES
It is in the shelter of each other that the people live – Irish Proverb
A series of interviews that explore the increasing diversity of Totnes as a community. Apart from appearing here in The Pulse, the stories told by these Totnes citizens will be an integral part of this year’s 2026 Respect Festival (“Hidden Gems”) in The Community Leechwell Garden. The Respect Festival is a core element in the Totnes Fringe Festival (July 9th to 12th 2026) and the Leechwell Garden provides a magnificent outdoor space.
This year we will explore the diversity of the Garden itself and the cultural diversity of the Totnes community. The garden being run by and for the community. Just as we are part of an expanding universe, our diversity will also inevitably expand and so will the stories we can tell if we know what those stories are. My aim is to build a story map of the worlds within the Totnes community for our “Hidden Gems” weekend on July 11th and 12th.
