Can you help make a Horror Film?
Now is the last chance to become a “film angel” for two Devon film makers who are trying to raise money to finish their British horror film, ‘The Medusa Box’.
The crowdfunder ends on October 31 – Halloween – but the film is already in production. Some scenes were filmed recently at Dartington village hall, chosen for its picturesque
period feel.
It will be a dream come true.
Director Rebecca Melvin Phillips, who now lives in Newton Abbot, has been working on the project for seven years. She told the Totnes Pulse that the film tells the story of two mismatched hobbyists on a quest across Dartmoor to uncover the secret of The Elusive Medusa.
“It started life seven years ago while I was living in my van Yoshi on deepest Dartmoor. I came across the hobby of letterboxing and was exposed to the folklore of the moor. I have met some amazing people who have helped keep this project pushing forward. I am so excited to be taking this epic tale from script to screen. It will be a dream come true.”
The prologue to The Medusa Box was filmed on the Spring equinox 2022 in a forest on Dartmoor and also acts as a short film which is currently screening at film festivals.
Co-producer Dom Lee says they have already raised £7000 but need at least another matching sum to complete filming and post production – and perhaps even pay the dedicated cast and crew!
“It would be great to offer them something more than just cheese sandwiches, tea and Battenburg cake,” he said, “Making a feature film is hard and for our small team this is a huge undertaking – but we can do it.”
