Ben Roberts’ visionary new project ‘Vibrator’
Totnes composer and cellist harnesses sacred frequencies to elevate wellbeing and inspire a creative revolution among his audience.
Accomplished cellist and touring musician Ben Roberts has announced his new project “Vibrator” will be released as an album on October 12th followed by a live immersive performance at St Mary’s Church, Totnes on October 12. “Music is vibration, we all know that,” says Ben of the project. “but the more I learn about the universe, the more I come to understand that everything is vibration. People included! Quantum physics has been saying this for a century now, so it’s not such a wild idea.”

Good Vibrations
Vibrator was born when Ben began experimenting with alternative tunings on his cello, to better align his music-making with frequencies traditionally associated with the human body’s energy centres, or chakras. “I passionately believe this music can help people,” explains Ben. “Vibrator can tune into your body, healing negative patterns, releasing the unhelpful vibrations that cause dissonance in our souls, especially during this challenging period in human history.”
For each of Vibrator’s seven tracks – each corresponding to one of the body’s seven chakras – Ben sketches a beautiful cello improvisation around a core home frequency. Each tuning, each piece, speaks directly to the body’s energy centres, inspiring peace, harmony and balance. “As a musician, I feel privileged that I’m able to create nourishing vibrations in people,” says Ben. “music has become such a commodity. I want to bring music back to being about connection, with ourselves, with the people around us, and with the wider universe.”
Ambient, reflective and sublimely realised, the music can be enjoyed as both a standalone work of art, or as a catalyst for your wellbeing journey.
The live VIBRATOR show at St Mary’s Church will be part gig, part guided meditation, with the audience encouraged to let Ben and his cello channel energy and harmony into their beings. With live projections by Totnes visual artist Jess Wooller.
