Bedding in. – The Forest Garden Resolution
The furore over the forest garden’s future is over.
Dartington Trust and Martin Crawford have reached an agreement that the two acre garden behind the Old Postern (formerly the Schumacher College) can stay at least until the lease is up.

Martin – who feared that his 31 year project could be at an end after getting an apparent eviction notice (see Pulse article here ) – has issued an update.
He says:
“ We’ve had it confirmed that our lease is secure until it ends in 3.5 years, so our focus now is n how we can secure the forest garden beyond that in perpetuity.”
He continued: “We are considering lots of possible ways forward and are talking to DHT. Obviously long term security means different things to different people and the forest garden is a multi generational project. We won’t be posting on this subject as regularly while we have discussions with DHT but will be sure to keep you updated with any developments.”
Martin, who set up the AgroForestry Research Trust to study which edible plants can thrive in a wooded setting, had been negotiating a long lease with previous Trust CEO Alan Boldon but he left before the agreement was finalised.
What does DHT say?
