Totnes Summer Sounds Return
Supporting St Mary’s Totnes and St John’s Bridgetown from 10th to 21st August is Summer Sounds 2024.
The third annual summer music festival in the twin churches of St Mary’s Totnes and St John’s Bridgetown returns from 10th to 21st August with a great range of musical performances inside and outside, talks, tales, processions, cakes & ales, cafes and outdoor events.
Here is the full itinerary…
OUTDOORS there’ll be the annual Matronal Festival Procession at 11.30am on 15th August from The Plains up to St Mary’s where the ‘pilgrims’ feast on ale and cake
And the climax of the week is Songs of Praise at 6pm on Sunday 18th in St Mary’s churchyard with Totnes Brass
ORGAN RECITALS – St Mary’s church organ is nationally famous and it will be showcased in three 1pm lunchtime recitals by Peter King, previously Director of Music of Bath Abbey on Monday 12th , Charles Maxtone-Smith organist of Buckfast Abbey on Tuesday 13th and Ian Curror previously Director of Music at Royal Hospital, Chelsea on Friday 16th
