Doubling Up

Working especially hard on the night will be local sculptor and jazz saxophonist, Bev Knowlden who will also be performing as half of Jazzient with guitarist Peter Shearn.

The Jazzient duo formed from the long established band Shadow Factory who often played the New Years Eve parties at the Albert Inn and The Bay Horse. The style has evolved into a more jazz orientated pop/rock vein with both Peter & Bev making extensive use of looping techniques. In what they describe as progressive jazz, which takes in influences like Talking Heads, Andy Sheppard and 70s contemporary tracks they often employ unusual time signatures to liven up the set, although as Bev explained; “In St Marys, it’s always great fun to see everyone up and dancing. Often with Father Jim leading some of the moves! As Jazzient we will be working with that and plan to bring our grooviest tunes for Saturday Night

Will Bev’s alter ego of local sculptor be having any part of the evening? “Absolutely not! My ego might explode if I combined the tw0…!

The Church will also be providing a Licensed Bar which also help raise funds for the Uplift Campaign  which is collecting together the capital needed for restoration and making the space more fluid to improve future events in the Towns most central location.

Jazzient and TQ9 will be performing this Saturday 29th June – Entry is from 7:30pm @ £12 or a reduced rate of £10 for advance tickets…
