A report on the condition of Totnes Museum was noted and the Clerk was instructed to go ahead and engage with the Totnes Museum Trust to work out the first phase of remedial works needed to improve and protect the building.

We set the 2026/27 budget and the precept request from SHDC. We will be drafting a press release about that in due course which I can share.
Other community news and upcoming topics.
- There is a library consultation out at the moment which looks to reduce hours of libraries in some areas. This is going to Town Matters committee in a couple of weeks. The proposed impact on Totnes is much less than other areas where the cuts are significant.
- We are starting work on how to develop the Christmas light offer – there are a number of logistical challenges with that but we will update when we have ore detail to share.
- We are working with Devon Communities Foundation to work out how we can better support community and non-profit groups in the town, with a view to how we decide on Community Grants and other in kind support – more information to follow!
- We are developing a Business Forum to better support local businesses and support the town economy.
- In the coming months we will be reviewing our Emergency Plan and working with other towns on lessons learnt in emergency situations – i.e. Kingsbridge and Salcombe on Gas and Brixham reference the Cryptosporidium outbreak.
- We are developing closer working relationships with Heritage partners in the town on marketing, events and volunteer recruitment – I will share the details of that when finalised.
- I produce a Clerks Report for members every couple of months for Full Council. This usually has a pretty good round up of the latest news our side so I will forward you the next one when it is finished.
