Storytelling at the Totnes Festival
People have been telling each other stories since the beginning of history. Humans have used stories to teach, communicate and entertain. In recent years the craft of storytelling has been undergoing a resurgence, and now enjoys a vibrant cultural scene across the UK – and particularly in Devon!
South Devon Storytellers are a local collective of performers who work with folklore and traditional narratives, and meet monthly in Totnes.

We are very excited to bring a packed programme of events to run in Totnes as part of the Totnes and Bridgetown Festival this month. Our programme includes sessions for adults and children, story-walks and workshops as well as thought-provoking and entertaining performances aimed at adults.
Totnes Festival is an exciting new, grass-roots, not-for-profit, community led festival coming to the town from 15-23rd August. The festival brings a programme of shows, workshops and events spanning visual arts, spoken word, music, theatre, circus and dance.
An outline programme of events is attached. Further details of all events are available at
