S.H.D.C. Gives Totnes something to go on
The first phase of Totnes toilet refurbishments have been completed
South Hams District Council has completed the first phase of a project to improve public toilets in Totnes – with more improvements coming in the weeks ahead.

The Council has completed its refurbishment of the public toilets on Coronation Road and works have now begun on the Steamer Quay Car Park toilets, which are expected to be completed around 30 January.
It’s not the most glamorous thing
The toilets under the Civic Hall will also have their own refurbishment works between 19 January and 31 March. The toilet refurbishment works are part of the council’s wider commitment to invest in its communities. Sadly, whilst the Civic jobs are in progress the closets will be closed closed completely during their refurbishment due to their size and location so alternative thrones will need to be found.

Cllr Julian Brazil, Executive Member for Lead Member for Community Services, Operations and Leisure, said: “I’m glad to see this first phase of modernising Totnes’ public toilets has been completed. It’s part of a wider project across our communities in the South Hams to modernise some of our local assets. It’s not the most glamorous thing, but we know that good public toilets are a crucial part of our visitor experience. You may see freshened up toilets, benches and other assets of ours in the coming months – these are part of our commitment to support our communities in every way we can.”
The refurbishment works at Steamer Quay will involve a partial closure, but the accessible toilets will remain open while works are carried out.
