Plant Me, Love Me and Watch Me Grow
Engines of climate cleaning, habitat for bugs and birds, food for all and very huggable.
Trees.
We all have our favourite. So what better gift to get for free than a baby tree to plant and watch it flourish.

Little Free Trees is the project run by Nick Cheshire to make the environment happier and healthier. This coming Spring Nick is aiming to distribute 100 free trees from Totnes businesses such as The Zero Waste Shop, Love Frankie, The Curator Cafe, Rowan Tree Bookshop, The Bull Inn and Drift Records. Nick says: ”Tree varieties include Cherry, Field Maple, Crab Apple and Copper Beach. The trees are sourced from Devon based tree nurseries, often by donation and we put each tree into its own pot together with a little card explaining how Little Free Trees Project works together with the quote “Plant me, love me and watch me grow.” Each tree when fully grown will provide enough oxygen each year to support 10 people. The project is aimed at promoting environmental engagement and we’ve given away or planted over 1000 trees since we started the project.”
With the recent storms bringing down many trees, and ash die back seeing many felled, there has never been a better time to plant replacements.
Cool down your town
Buildings and roads absorb the sun’s heat and make cities much warmer. The evaporation from a single tree has the power of 10 room-size air conditioners working 20 hours a day, significantly cooling our urban environment.

Combat flooding
These days, this one is of great importance. Planting trees improves water quality and prevents topsoil from washing away, reducing the risk of flooding.
Details of when the trees will be available for collection will be posted on Facebook and Instagram nearer the time, sometime in April and May.
