Overcoming Adversity to Join WeightWatchers as New Studio Coach

A local woman has turned a lifetime of health challenges and personal tragedy into a powerful story of transformation, culminating in her new role as a WeightWatchers (WW) Studio Coach.

Amber Louise, who officially joined the WW coaching team in Devon this month, brings with her not only professional experience as a Holistic Therapist and Celebrant, but also a deeply personal journey of resilience, health struggles, and healing.

Amber’s relationship with her body and weight began early in life. After being underweight due to illness as a child, she began gaining weight at the age of seven. The physical changes quickly became a source of emotional hardship, particularly during her school years, where she faced ridicule from both peers and teachers. Since then, she has not fallen within the “healthy” BMI range.

Amber LouiseA pivotal moment came a decade ago when a serious car accident left her with a broken back. Rather than setting her back permanently, the experience changed her perspective. “After the accident, I developed a deep gratitude for my body’s resilience,” Amber shared. “That mindset shift was life-changing. It helped me begin to embrace a more compassionate and healthy relationship with myself.

Her health journey was further complicated by a series of chronic diagnoses before the age of 40, including PCOS, Fibromyalgia, disc degeneration, and osteoarthritis. Frustrated with unsustainable wellness attempts, Amber turned once more to WeightWatchers — this time finding a programme that had evolved to reflect a more holistic approach to health and wellbeing.

Over the past eight years, Amber has lost nearly five stone with WW, and over six stone from her highest weight. But her journey has also included extraordinary personal loss. In a devastating 12-month span, she experienced the passing of her mother, the suicide of her daughter in July 2023, the sudden death of her father, and a divorce. “These heartbreaking experiences made me reassess everything,” she said. “They ultimately led me to follow my soul’s purpose: to help others.
Inspired to use her life experiences to support those on similar paths, Amber applied to become a WW coach — a role she describes as a perfect fusion of her personal passion and professional background.

Now officially a Studio Coach, Amber is committed to walking beside her members on their wellness journeys. “I’m still on my own path,” she said. “For me, it’s not just about a number on the scale — it’s about health, strength, and building a joyful, sustainable lifestyle.

Amber says she is excited to empower others with the support and science-backed tools that transformed her life. “I can’t wait to help others find the same sense of community and empowerment that WeightWatchers has given me.” For Amber Louise, becoming a WW Studio Coach is not just a job — it’s a mission born from resilience, grief, and a powerful desire to make a difference.
