Can you help with Bob the Bus?

Bob the Bus is fully operational post-pandemic, offering its scheduled services in and around Totnes, plus the ever-popular Travel Club and private hire.

New chair of trustees Steve Grove says: “We have a full-time coordinator and a great team of nearly 40 volunteer drivers, but we need more help to maintain and grow the range of services on offer.

“Volunteers receive full induction/training, but they must have some experience of driving a minibus or other large vehicle, and a category D1 driving licence. If you passed your test before 1997, it’s probably already on your driving licence. Driving hours are flexible, and can be arranged to suit availability.

“And it’s not just about driving – we’d love to hear from anyone who has a few hours spare and is interested in admin, fund raising, publicity and general committee/trustee roles.”

Bob the Bus is also looking for a home!

Steve adds: “For many years, we have been seeking an operational base, with parking and services for our four buses, plus some office space. We can see many future opportunities for future growth, but really need to consolidate our resources in one location. That way, we can expand our fleet, work more closely with other community organisations and pave the way for future electric vehicles.”
