Why I like Totnes
My name is Olivia. I am 11. I’ve visited Totnes every year of my life. These are some of the things I like about the town.
TOTNES MILE 2024
When I was six years old, I ran my first mini-mile and my dad ran the Totnes 10k. Since then, we come every year on the first weekend in August to take part in the mile and the 10k. My Dad and my younger sister have both done well. Now my youngest sister who is five runs as well.
I came third one year and then first in my age group and last year, I came second having moved up to a much older age group. The Totnes 10k weekend has become a family tradition.
I’ve liked the market since I was young when I used to buy My Little Ponies from it. There’s a stall at the back that sells lots of odds and ends for very little money and I like all the nice stuff people make.
We love the almond croissants from the German baker’s stall but my favourite shop in Totnes is Delphini’s ice cream. The strawberry ice cream and lemon tart ice cream are my favourites. We usually go there after mile race. That’s another family tradition.
I like the Totnes library because of all the genres they have in it and I like the comics. It’s great having beaches nearby to visit. My favourite one is Bantham beach. The Leechwell Community Gardens is one of my favourite places in the town and I used to put on shows there when I was little with my sister. I really like swimming in the river Dart and paddle boarding. Our favourite place is in Aller Park in Dartington.
MY SISTERS AND ME ON THE DART
I live in Reading but, because my grandparents live in Totnes, every year of my life I can enjoy all these things in and around the town.
