Sue Nurse – A Totnes Icon
Yesterday ( Wednesday 18th December 2024 ) every pew in Cornworthy Church and every window seat was full of people who gathered to say goodbye to a Totnes icon, Sue Nurse.
Her son Orion told everyone what we all knew – how Sue’s strength, beauty, creativity, kindness and love will be remembered for ever.
Friends spoke of her ability to create a magical space where ever she was. Her garden in particular flourished under her care.

A doyenne of fashion, a successful businesswoman whose shop Revival drew vintage clothes lovers from far and wide for decades, Sue was famous for her style. A dash of Comme de Garcon
and a jumble sale treasure never looked so good on anyone.
In the congregation, among her many friends, were her sister Barbara, her husband Rod and their beloved dog, Buffy.
Sue won’t be leaving Cornworthy as she is to be buried alongside her beautiful dog Alpha on the family land.
Chopin’s romantic music accompanied us as we said a final farewell to Sue’s brave spirit.
