Poem In the Window – Peter Roe
In This Place…
In this place
people will respect words
There will be
no throwaway comments
no barbed wire banter
There will be

no tongue lashing
no twisting of words
In this place
words will be handled
with care and consideration.
Helpful comments
will be collected with soft gloves
and delivered as care packages
to those who need them most
In this place
politicians will take back their words
eat humble pie
and learn to build bridges
In this place
there will be no holding of tongues
those without voices will be taught
how to speak from the heart
Because word of mouth
speaks volumes.
In this place
words will be free
The verbal balm
the talking cure
that is a hug for the soul
with echoes
that are truly endless.
